Future-proofing is about the basics

It may seem counterintuitive to propose that a phrase like future-proofing that implies innovation, analytics, and cutting-edge technology is actually best addressed by basic best practices that an in-house agency should already have in place.

Foundational ways of working like robust operational infrastructure including documented workflows, SOPs, and collaborative guidelines, as well as a flexible org and staffing model, clear JDs and RACIs, deep understanding of the company’s brand and regulatory mandates, and robust upskilling programs are the most effective ways for an in-house team to be able to pivot to constantly changing business demands and mandates.

Even the best business thought leaders, big data modeling, and predictive technologies can’t often determine what the future will bring. That means having foundational best practices that an in-house agency can leverage and adapt to new business realities, rather than reinventing the wheel every time a new service, technology, or delivery platform is introduced, is the best way for a team to quickly pivot.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not a spectator sports guy but I will rely on a sports phrase – it’s all about blocking and tackling.
